We begin collecting information when you first open the App, including any debate activity completed before account creation. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.

We collect the following categories of personal information: Identifiers — email address, unique user ID, username (if selected) Usage and debate data — debate topics selected, stance selections, debate opinions you submit, debate outcomes, scores, app activity patterns Inferences — debate performance patterns, scoring trends, and opinion tendencies derived from your activity Device information — country, locale, device type Subscription data — trial debate count, subscription status, subscription tier We do not collect your name, phone number, or payment card details. Note on debate content: The opinions and stances you submit may touch on politically sensitive topics. We treat this content with heightened care and do not associate it with your identity in any data we share with third parties.

We use your information to create and maintain your account, operate and improve the Dissent app and AI debate features, generate anonymized aggregate insights about debate trends and opinion patterns, manage your subscription and trial period, and communicate with you about your account.

We may create de-identified or aggregate data from the information we collect, including your debate stances and scoring history. This data does not identify you personally. We reserve the right to use, share, and license this de-identified data with third parties for research, analysis, and commercial purposes. Any party receiving de-identified data from us is contractually prohibited from attempting to re-identify it.

We share information with the following service providers: Google Firebase — database and authentication Anthropic — AI language model. Your debate content is sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Fish Audio — AI voice synthesis for debate responses RevenueCat — subscription and payment management Apple — App Store distribution and in-app purchase processing We do not share your email address or personally identifiable information with third parties for commercial purposes.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within 45 days. Encrypted backups may persist for up to 90 days before automatic purge. Aggregate or de-identified data is not subject to deletion requests.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

California and Colorado residents have the following rights: Right to know — request disclosure of what personal information we have collected Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information Right to opt out — we do not sell personal information Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights Right to limit use of sensitive personal information To exercise your rights, use the Delete My Account feature in the App or email support@dissent-app.com. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and fulfill it within 45 days.

Dissent is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact support@dissent-app.com if you believe we have collected information from a child under 13.

The App does not respond to Do Not Track signals as there is no industry standard for such responses on mobile applications.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use of Dissent after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
